…When it’s been on the same channel before for three years running!
Yes, that was my reaction when I found out Nickelodeon UK are promoting one of my favourite TV shows What I Like About You (starring my all-time favourite actress Amanda Bynes) as a new show they’ve picked up to screen over the Summer, in their brand new TEENick slot (think T4, if it were aimed at 8-year-olds). Firstly, the subdued breakup of t.A.T.u. was officially announced on their blog. Out of the ashes came two new projects, neither connected, but both potentially exciting.
What to say… there’s still a lot left unfinished, and the fans have been assured closure, but I’m skeptical as to whether the majority of what’s been promised will surface in the coming months. It may be a good year before we hear an official announcement regarding their films release. What would I like to see? How about a lifetime honour that’s not from MTV Russia: let them perform during the Eurovision halftime-show in Moscow (I know it’s hardly the Superbowl, but I don’t know what else to call that typically boring part when you’re supposed to start televoting). Apparently the spot’s already been taken by a Cirque du Soleil performance, but I think that harks back to my earlier statement of this interval being typically boring. Aqua got to perform in the 2001 Contest shortly before their breakup, it should only be fair as one of Russia’s most profitable exports they grant them this honour! Now, whether or not t.A.T.u. would actually accept it, is another question.
Secondly, Amanda Bynes has a new comedy Pilot in the works! “Canned” sees Amanda take on the role of newly-unemployed Sarabeth, adjusting the life outside the workplace along with her other friends after being exploited by their boss. What I’d like to see? The report says the character’s a naïve midwesterner – so how about letting Amanda show off her versatility and give her a little accent!
If you don’t know me, I’m what you would call an Amanda Bynes fanatic. I used to run the only British website about her and have been a fan since 2001. She’s lately had somewhat of a career dry-spot, but rather than bitching about it, I’ve appreciated seeing her taking time off and evaluating things in her life (let’s just brush over those several months she spent with Paris Hilton’s future husband). She’s working on a new script with Andy Fickman, the director of her most successful lead-role film “She’s The Man”, and a new fashion line. But this is exciting, getting back to what she does best! The ABC Productions Pilot should start taping next month, and I’m pretty sure those things are open to a live audience, so no doubt I’ll have more news on this project as it develops.
I’m having a little trouble trying to figure out why the hell it has taken so long for The Veronicas to crack America. Their album, one of the best albums I’ve ever heard, was released over a YEAR AGO, yet only now has their second single from Hook Me Up, Untouched, made an impact in America (so far reaching #17 on the Billboard Hot 100). I saw the twins, Jessica and Lisa Origliasso, on E! News this morning and I’m really happy for them. I’d never heard of them until their song 4Ever popped up on the soundtrack for the Amanda Bynes flick She’s The Man. It may have been before that when I found out they had been part of the team behind t.A.T.u’s 2005 comeback hit All About Us (check out their, some might say, better sounding demo via YouTube). Then, in September of 2007, my awareness of them sparked, I saw their debut video from their second album, Hook Me Up, on YouTube. Initially I was hostile! Confused at their almost t.A.T.u-esque relationship displayed in the video… despite being sisters! But then I got my hands on some tracks from the album (my other recommendations: Take Me On The Floor (2nd Single), Popular, Revenge Is Sweeter (Than You Ever Were), I Can’t Stay Away & Goodbye to You) and all was forgiven, falling instantly in love with Untouched and eagerly anticipating the video (which, ultimately, I was let down by and wish they’d re-shot now it’s getting airplay).
So now, over 14 months later, that video and single is ready to drop over here in Britian, and I thought I’d use this opportunity to remind you that I actually mashed up Untouched last year, and it’s one of my favourite mash ups, but unfortunately due to the lock-down WMG has on YouTube I can’t make a video for it. So you’ll just have to make do with the audio…

Vloggers and the general state of YouTube, I Am Legend and My Advice for Amanda Bynes. (2 Parts)
It’s been over a week now since I discovered I couldn’t log into Orange to update my websites and I currently feel like I’ve lost several very-important limbs. I feel so empty without my websites to update, and I can tell you if I had them back right this second I would be up all night updating them because I’m so behind.
The day after I lost contact, so to say, I got a very confidential e-mail from the distribution company behind Amanda Bynes’ new-old film Lovewrecked, telling me that it’s being released in May and would I like to help promote it. Of course I f***ing well would – but I can’t! Well, I can, through my blog, and through MySpace (mwhahaha, so that’s what bulletins are for). Then the trailer for Hairspray was released, Amanda appeared on E! News almost two consecutive days in a row and then some wonderful goon at Play.com delivered my season one boxset of What I Like About You a full two weeks in advance. Basically, it was like Birthday and Christmas came all in the same week, but I couldn’t play with any of my presents!
So it’s made me realise that, despite Orange saying that the problem may eventually sort itself out – they can’t do anything, the database is being updated and some IP addresses have not been added to the system, and they may or may not ever be added, I just have to sit tight and wait to see what happens – Yeah-f***ing-right! I need to buy some serious webspace for Amanda Bynes UK. How serious? I’m thinking 700MB at the least – not cheap, but then again I’m not exactly spending my money on anything else these days and I consider a website on Amanda Bynes a good investment; I just wish this hadn’t've happened the one year everything in her career (UK-wise, anyway) seems to happen at once, but whatcha gonna do?! As for this here humble website, Tomsbrain, I’m comfortable leaving things how they are for the time being. I can still update my blog and video blogs and I do have some webspace on a server that I borrowed from a friend (must remember to thank him majorly, if I didn’t have that right now I’d be screwed).
Seriously though, if I get one more piece of good news I don’t know how I’m going to take it – is it possible to be happy and sad at the exact same moment in time? Let’s think of a positive to come from all of this – I may have rediscovered my passion writing which I’ve neglected for about 3 months now… and something else, that’s very positive, but not really related to all of this happening.
Still can’t log in to update any of my sites on Orange. It may have to come to finally buying some webspace… probably not though; I’m so cheap!!!
But I will do for Amanda Bynes UK though, I still enjoy working on that site and it’s impressive to look back on and see how much of an establishment I created. It’s now the longest running Amanda Bynes fansite anywhere on the net! The other thing I’d like to be updating right now is the ‘Fiction‘ section, as I’m currently premiering my script-based comedy series All Cleared Up on MySpace and I hope to, you know, build up a little readership (is that how you use that word?).
I lost today at Scrabble; I was winning for quite a while but then I sort of lost it and couldn’t concentrate. I hope to fix all that tomorrow or Thursday… it’s going to be an interesting week for me.
I can’t fall to sleep right now. I feel… no, I know I’m going slowly insane. I can’t even do anything productive because Orange, for some reason, won’t recognise my IP or whatever and I can’t log into update my website. It’s really a shame actually because the new trailer for Hairspray just came out and usually I’d be all over it on Amanda Bynes UK – and I am, but I can’t upload anything. Now that that’s out of the way, onto the other reason for why I know if I don’t talk to a qualified person soon (men in white coats and all that jazz) I’m gonna loose my fuckin’ nut!
But before that, can I just state that I have tried my very best but I DO NOT LIKE VERONICA MARS! However I am now a fan of The O.C. – thank you, James!

Since 2003, What I Like About You has had Nickelodeon UK as its home in Britain. But times have changed and so has this brilliant sitcom starring Amanda Bynes and Jennie Garth. That’s why we, the fans, do not want Nickelodeon UK to show Season Four of What I Like About You if you are forced to once again edit the episodes. Therefore we propose that if Nickelodeon UK are in charge of its UK distribution or know who is in charge that you find the series a more suitable home, a network who will show Season Four and all previous Seasons uncut.

I suppose you just glance every now and then at the other sites listed on Tomsbrain. I mean, why not, I know how exciting reading my blog can get! But just a little note to say updates are being made to some of the mini-sites affiliated with Tomsbrain… Totally Angel Has been marginally updated with a new video clip and an advert for the Half Price DVD’s at play.com. I will be working on Episode Galleries once I have purchased all seasons of Angel. The Lone Gunmen fan-fiction/episode guide page will be updated soon with a new look and a more detailed episode guide, thanks to the people at FOX for releasing TLG on DVD… Shame it’s not Region 2, because then I’d do some episode galleries of that too! This should all take place during the (planned) summer when Amanda Bynes is off filming “She’s The Man” – Apart from ‘Lovewrecked’, which hasn’t even got a release date yet, Amanda news should be in-frequent during the summer.
But, for me (yes please*) it has been a busy week. I went for a kind-of job interview. It was an interview to find me a job… which is a job interview if you think about it! Anyway, things are looking very promising for the future and I think a part-time job is on the horizon. Until then I just submitted my second column to the Candlelighters Magazine, once it’s out I will put it up at ‘This Is Tom’.

YES YES YES!!! And they’ve finally accepted my debit card!! Woohoo, hopefully my copy should arrive tomorrow and then I’ll you know… be dead to the world… Seriously, I think I may play this game for 12 straight hours on Saturday… well, not straight, I goota eat and sh*t and stuff! Plus Zoe’s coming over… or so she says!! And she’s bringing Shaun Of The Dead so I’ll take time off to watch that. I’ve actually finished all my gallery work for What I Like About You at Amanda Bynes UK so that I can spend lots of time on The Sims 2. But come next month I’ll have another 20 or so galleries to do with the arrival of Season 2. And Season 3 begins tonight on The WB at 8pm (tell your friends) which I’m keeping up-to-date with thanks to Fofi and my pals at The Amanda Forum.
